If you know me well, you are aware that Iโ€™m pretty particular about my morning routine. ๐ŸŒ…

Although those cold dark wintry mornings in upstate New York pose a challenge when the alarm goes off, I am still bright-eyed and bushy-tailed by 5:30 AM (out of habit). As soon as spring hits, and the mornings seem to get brighter, lighter, and sunnier earlier, it brings on a whole new level of morning energy! ๐ŸŒž

If you donโ€™t already have a solid morning routine, I highly recommend trying to establish one. Especially as spring is rolling in. Give it four weeks. If you start taking control of the mornings, you can take control of your entire day. Own the morning so you can own your day. Start your day right, so the rest of your day falls into place. Schedule that time in – it is important to develop good habits and a good routine. Morning routines help you to be proactive and not reactive. Your morning is about YOU. Seize it. It must also fit you and your lifestyle, or you will not be able to maintain it. Get in sync with what you want and create that unbreakable morning routine. A consistent one that will bring consistent results.

Start your day how you want to live your day!

Everyone will have their own unique routine, but my favorite way to wake up is to start each day giving thanks as soon as I open my eyes. Then, I continue with at least five minutes of powerful positive energy. I am talking five minutes of consistent positive thoughts that help me to start my days off with positive intentions. This helps me start with a mindset that I am going to WIN the day, no matter what. With a positive mindset, you set yourself up to win. Get yourself in a powerful state from the jump! Create a list the night before. Plan your day. If you know where you are going, you will eventually get to where you need to go. If you have no direction, you will end up in the wrong section. Have intention and have direction.

I have been a morning person my entire life. My best friend used to get annoyed when we would have sleepovers in our younger years because I would be up and ready to go super early. (love you MARITA๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜‚) For as long as I can remember, my morning routine has included an early morning workout. In middle school, I would hit the local YMCA with my Mom at 5:30AM. That is just something that has stuck and remained constant. I donโ€™t feel completely ready for the day until I get that early morning sweat sesh in.๐Ÿ’ช I really like the mental win of crossing my workout off my to-do list first thing. And best of all, the endorphin “high” goes a long way in the morning โ€“ who doesnโ€™t love starting the day out with a natural boost?

My early morning essentials: gratitude, positive thoughts, having a daily to do list, water, coffee, stretching, exercise ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Things I LOVE about my early mornings: zero interruptions, keeps me disciplined, builds momentum for the day ahead, and allows extra time in the day to get s*!t done (2 hours/day=14 hours/week=728 hours/year=30 whole days/year to GSD!) โฐ

Do you want to get your morning routine going strong? I recommend reading the book The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM) by Hal Elrod

In this book, Elrod suggests following six principles, called Life S.A.V.E.R.S., to start your day. These stand for:

  • S โ€“ Silence.
  • A โ€“ Affirmations.
  • V โ€“ Visualization.
  • E โ€“ Exercise.
  • R โ€“ Reading.
  • S โ€“ Scribing.

Elrodโ€™s core message is that everyone deserves to achieve their fullest potential.

Try out a few of those ideas and then adjust your routine based on your lifestyle and your own personal goals. Develop a consistent morning routine that will set you up with the positive momentum you need to crush the day!
